Privacy Policy

Overview

CC Notch is a native macOS application that runs entirely on your local machine. We are committed to your privacy and have designed the app with a privacy-first approach.

Data Collection

CC Notch does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data.

Specifically, CC Notch:

  • Does not collect analytics or telemetry
  • Does not track usage behavior
  • Does not send data to any remote servers
  • Does not use cookies or tracking technologies
  • Does not access your Claude Code API keys or credentials

Local Communication

CC Notch communicates with Claude Code exclusively through a local Unix socket (/tmp/ccnotch.sock). This communication never leaves your machine. The app reads session status, tool approval requests, and context information — all processed locally.

Auto-Updates

CC Notch uses the Sparkle framework to check for updates. When checking for updates, a request is made to our update server to download the appcast file. This request may include your macOS version and app version. No personally identifiable information is transmitted. You can disable auto-updates in the app settings.

Third-Party Services

CC Notch does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only external communication is the optional update check described above.

Data Storage

All app preferences and settings are stored locally on your machine using macOS UserDefaults. No data is stored in the cloud or on external servers.
